Viola Rosezella Carpenter

Viola Rosezella Carpenter, 86, of Marion, passed away at 7:43 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on December 26, 1938, to Jimmy Goens and Ona (Beavers) Baker. She married Loren Carpenter on October 9, 1965.
A devoted homemaker, Viola dedicated her life to caring for her family. Viola was an extraordinary wife, mother, and homemaker-an exceptional cook who took joy in caring for others. She was everything to her husband, and her love for her family was unwavering. Known as the "glue" that held the family together, she enjoyed puzzles of all kinds and loved experimenting with new recipes.
She is survived by her husband, Loren Carpenter of Marion, IN; her son, Timothy (Monica) Marsee of Marion, IN; daughters, Penny Martin of Johnson City, TN, and Tara Nicodemus; thirteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ona Margarett Baker; father, Jimmy Goens; sons, Anthony Marsee, Danny W. Marsee, and Paul Thomas Carpenter; daughter, Pammy Marsee; and one sister.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A service celebrating Viola's life will follow at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
