Viola Evelyn Davis

Viola Davis passed away peacefully on October 27, 2009, at the age of 90. Viola was born and raised in central Minnesota where she received her training as a registered nurse at The Deaconess Hospital. It was while serving as a nurse in the US Army in Lincoln, Nebraska, that she met fellow WWII serviceman and her future husband, Seth Davis. They were married in 1943 and after some time in Arkansas and Minnesota, they moved to Vancouver in 1947. Seth and Viola enjoyed 63 years together until Seth's death in 2007. Viola spent her entire life serving others: as a nurse in the military and in various hospitals in Vancouver, as a volunteer nurse at their church's youth camps, working in the family business, and, of course, helping her children and grandchildren. Whether it was attending to an ill patient or painting the walls of a new house, Viola always had a smile on her face. Viola is survived by her two sons, Jim and Duane, daughter-in-laws Judi and Roberta; six grandchildren; 13 great-grand children; sisters, Alma, Esther and Ruth; and brother Paul. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Seth and her oldest son Gerald (Gerry).
