Viola Lorace Horton

Viola Horton was born in Portland, OR in 1958, an only child to Major and Gladys Pruitt. She grew up in SE Portland, attending Cleveland High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree at Portland State University and her Master's Degree at Lewis and Clark College.
She spent over 30 years teaching music for Portland Public Schools. She was adored by her students and many of them stayed in contact with her over the years. They have had many wonderful things to say about her.
When she wasn't teaching, she was "Dark Diva," in her AC/DC fan club!!
In 2016, she met the man who would turn out to be the love of her life. It was love at first sight. In 2018, the lovebirds wed and what a wonderful life they shared together, traveling all over the world, sharing their adventures and always bringing back treasures! She stepped in as mother and grandmother and was loved so much by her family.
Viola was a student at The Portland Fashion Institute for four years and created the most beautiful line of afrocentric men's clothing. The fashion show was amazing!
She was a skilled and highly sought after costume designer, adored and loved by the Portland theater community. She made friends everywhere she went and through everything she did.
Rest in power, beautiful queen!!
