Born September 16, 1944 -in Portland Oregon to Mike and Doris Verbout, he received His Promotion to Glory February 16, 2026, At the age of 81
Mike was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School (go Roughriders), as well as Lewis and Clark College where he received his master's degree in education.
He was a Music Teacher for several years and taught at many local schools in the Portland area.
He decided to go into Higher Education to pursue a career as a Principal at Applegate, Beach, and finishing at James John.
Mike was a Community Minded person. His passion was His love for his Lord, the ministry of The Salvation Army Moore st Corps, Roosevelt Alumni and his North Portland Community.
A strong advocate to make a Difference.
He served on many committees and Boards. The Salvation Army Metro Board, The Salvation Army Moore street advisory Council, Roosevelt Alumni President, just to name a few.
A few years back he was instrumental in Forming the North Portland Business association.
He was a Kiwanian as well as A Rotarian.
He had the privilege of serving as the Grand Marshal in the St. John’s Parade.
He was instrumental in getting the Mini Floats started in the St. John’s Parade, the star light Parade as well as the grand floral parade representing North Portland
Mikes health was not the greatest this past year which slowed him down a lot. Which made him sad He couldn’t be involved as much as He would have liked to be .
He is survived by siblings Cheryl (Bud) Fuqua, Chris (Tom) Morrow, Randy (Peggy) Verbout,
Darla (David) Corey, many nieces, nephews, as well as great and great great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by His Parents Mike and Doris Verbout, and sister Linda Fox.
A graveside Service will take place on February 27 at 11:00 am at Skyline Memorial Gardens
4101 NW Skyline Blvd. Portland Oregon 97229, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm
