Viola Sorenson Obituary
June 4, 1937 - December 27, 2025
Viola "Vi" Sorenson, 88, of Madison, SD passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wentworth. Visitation with family present will begin one hour prior. Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Wentworth.
Viola Goldhammer was born on June 4, 1937, to John and Emma (Pekoske) Goldhammer in Wagner, SD. In 1940 she moved with her parents to a farm near Fulton, SD and graduated from Fulton High School. She worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls after high school. Vi married Robert Sorenson on September 21, 1958, at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Alexandria, SD. The couple then farmed near Oakwood Lake in Brookings County and near Arlington. In 1963, they moved to their farm near Wentworth, where they lived until moving to Madison in 2006.
Vi is survived by her brother, Loyd, two sisters-in-law, Betty and Donna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Clarence.
