Viola Doris Waterfield, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on December 14, 2025 at the age of 83.
She was born on January 29, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia to Jack Lynch and Bertha Stallings.
Doris was a devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, faithfully serving in many roles over the years. She loved her church family and the fellowship it brought her.
Doris married her husband Tully Conrad Waterfield on January 24, 1958, and together they built a beautiful family. She retired from Tidewater Community College after 16 years. She greatly enjoyed drawing and the arts as well as interior decoration as could be seen by her home which was always beautifully done. In later years, her greatest joy came from caring for her home, her flowers, and the people she loved most.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children Samantha Shurtz (Andrew), Keith Waterfield (Genesis), and Darden Waterfield (Deborah); grandchildren Avery Shurtz, AJ Shurtz, Nicole Waters, Timothy Waterfield, Andrew Waterfield, and Paiton Waterfield; as well as eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Richard Lynch (Laurie).
Doris was predeceased by her husband Tully Conrad Waterfield, her son Nelson Troy Waterfield, her brothers Jack Lynch, Paul Lynch, Larry Lynch, Steven Lynch, and her parents.
A service honoring Doris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 18, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church (691 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23457), with Pastor Chuck Moseley officiating. Interment will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park (3445 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456).
