Violet Barker Obituary

Vi was born on May 9, 1931, in Jamaica, NY, a daughter of the late Martin & Rose Pelka Jagusiak. She graduated from John Adams High School in Ozone Park, NY a member of the class of 1949. She then went on to attend Somerset County College in Somerville, NJ. She married Donald Mervin Barker on May 12, 1979, and they enjoyed almost 25 years of marriage before his passing on April 6, 2004. She retired from Johnson & Johnson Corporate Headquarters as a Staff Asst. in New Brunswick, NJ, after 21 years of service. Vi and Don retired to Sullivan County in 1993. She was a member of St. Basil's Church, Dushore, PA and its Altar & Rosary Society and also a member of the Dushore Music Club.
Surviving is her three sons Martin & Michelle Faulborn, Christopher Faulborn, and James and Peggy Faulborn, stepchildren: Robert and Carol Barker, Sandra and George Bellias, and Amy Standera, sisters-in-law: Nancy Jagusiak and Mary Barker, and brother-in-law: Michael and Terry Barker. Vi is also survived by five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter Karen B. Boos on December 10, 2021, all of her siblings and their spouses: Andrew (Madeline) Jagusiak of Falls Church, VA, Catherine (John) Gallagher of Floral Park, NY, Anne (Steve) Gondek of Bayside, NY, Frank (Fay) Jagusiak of Princess Anne, MD, Mary (Stanley) Ungechauer of New Hyde Park, NY, Helen (Charles) Gregory of Lindenhurst, NY, Stella (Joseph) Ogiba of Hillsborough, NJ, and John Jagusiak of Boston, MA, a step son Larry Faulborn, NY and by the father of her four children, Henry Faulborn, NY.
Prayers will be 10am Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville followed by a 11am mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, East Millstone. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, East Millstone.
Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Friday, October 4, 2024 at the funeral home.
