Violet Laura Sather

Edina businesswoman, Violet L. Sather (nee Hanson), age 100, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born in Barron, Wisconsin and graduated from Barron County High School in 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Morris Sather and is survived by her three children Sandra (Ed) Lovinguth of Virginia, Steven (Kathleen) Sather and Jeffery (Donna) both of Eden Prairie; seven grandchildren Ryan, Kari, Mathew, Garret, Margaret, Preston, Lowell; and seven great grandchildren. Vi was the founder of Patio Village, a long-time business @ 50th & France in Edina, and a well-known businesswoman in the casual furniture industry. She served as a board member of the of 50th and France Merchants Association, was a charter member of the Casual Furniture Retailers Association and served on their National Board for three years, and was twice nominated for one of ten outstanding patio shops in America. She was also a former member of the St. Croix Yacht Club, former member of The Women's Club of Minneapolis, past member and Deacon of the former First Christian Church Minneapolis, past member and Deacon of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church Punta Gorda, and lately a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Edina. Vi was a loving wife and mother, astute businesswoman, generous to her family and friends, and loved a good party. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to N.C. Little Memorial Hospice 7019 Lynmar Lane Edina, MN 55435, or to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 5, at Minnesota Valley Country Club, 6300 Auto Club Road, Bloomington MN followed by a buffet lunch. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
