Violet "Vicki" Sims Saginaw, Michigan
Our beloved Violet went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the age of 89 years. The daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Miller) Hagerthey, Vicki was born June 28, 1935, in Gloucester, New Jersey. Vicki married the love of her life, Gerald Sims, on October 7, 1953. She was employed at Mason Tackle in Otisville and assistant baker at St. Paul Lutheran School in Millington for 16 years until her retirement. Vicki was devoted to the Lord with her never-wavering Faith. She was a member Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington. She was past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Millington. While baking was something she enjoyed, her true passion was her family. There was never a missed opportunity to spend with her cherished loved ones. Vicki was both loving and generous beyond words and will be missed by all!
Survived by her loving husband Jerry; two daughters, Deborah and William Oliver, LaFayette, Georgia; Sheral and Vern Pashby, Millington; one son, Robert and Marilee Sims, Vassar; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Douglas Dewey, Jerry Oliver, Jessica Pashby and Ron Sebastian, Timothy and Bethany Pashby, Lisa Sims, Nicole and Brent Gavagan; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Karoline Koenig; a sister-in-law, Betty Sims; several nieces and nephews. Vicki was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Diane Sims, and by four brothers, Robert, George, Jack and Donald Hagerthey.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024, at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Deacon Jeff Rauschert will officiate with a burial in Millington Township Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
