Jean (Rethman) Johnson, of Saginaw, MI, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on February 1st, 2026. Born on March 24th, 1952, she spent her life spreading joy, kindness, love, and comfort to everyone she met.
Known for her bright blue eyeshadow, incredible baking, sewing, and love for camping, she was the heartbeat of her family. She adored her role as a wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She always made sure her family was taken care of with homemade cutout cookies every Christmas and if you ever needed anything you could probably find it in her basement pantry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herman "Mike" Rethman and Lenora Coleman; her brother, James Rethman (Susan Gaiser) and her in-laws Robert (Wilhelmina) Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Calvin Johnson; her two daughters, April Johnson (Scott) and Lisa (David) Goss; her grandchildren, Emilee (Nathan) Ayala, Gabrielle (Zachary) Ramirez, Abbie-Jo (Juan) Johnson, McKenzie (Jake) Lopez, Krislynn Johnson, and Tanner Goss; and her great-grandchildren, Natalee, Kinley, Nash, Maezie, and Ella; and her best friend Gail of 52 years; and furbaby, Tucker.
There will be no service at this time, as the family has chosen to grieve privately. She will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
