Violet M. Stamper, 96, of Gas City, passed away peacefully at 11:52 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Gas City, Indiana, on February 8, 1929, to Virgil and Mabel (McWhirt) Fanning. In April 1948, she married Arnold Stamper, with whom she shared a devoted life until his passing.
Violet was a proud graduate of Jefferson Township High School. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. Violet worked for 21 years at Marion General Hospital in the dietetics department before joining Bradner Village, where she served in housekeeping and assisted with resident activities. She retired from Bradner Village in 2001. Her compassion extended beyond her work-she spent time supporting individuals with Alzheimer's and was a committed member of the Commander Club (DAV), where she helped disabled veterans.
Creative and curious, Violet loved crafting and traveling. She found joy in making things with her hands and exploring new places, always carrying a gentle spirit and a willingness to help wherever she could.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Pam (Jerry) Clapp of Gore, Oklahoma; her sister, Pat Slagle of Gas City; her granddaughter, Erinn M. (David) Watson; and great grandchildren, Catherine Watson, Aiden Watson, and Samantha Watson. She will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; her daughter, Sharon L. Stamper; her son, Lee Stamper; and her granddaughter, NovaLee Stamper.
