Rena K. Bennett, 71, of Gas City, passed away in her home at 2:54 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, August 31, 1954, to James and Barbara (Cox) Kierstead. She married Teddy W. "Ted" Bennett, who preceded her.

Rena worked at Delta Electric in Marion and had owned/operated a small daycare in her home. Rena enjoyed going to rummage sales and flea markets. She also like doing puzzles. More than anything, Rena was a loving wife, mother and grandmother throughout her life.

Rena is survived by her son, Justin (Malissa) Bennett of Gas City; grandchildren, Jessica Bennett, Gabrielle Bennett, Jacob Bennett, Brody Bennett, Olivia Bennett, Mason Bennett, Anna (Jay) Smith, Kayla (Jacob Voight) Bennett, Chandler Medrano, Cassie Bennett, Cory (Angie) Bennett; great-grandchildren, Kylinn and Mia; brothers, George (Deverly) Kierstead, Steven (Gwen) Kierstead, Roger Kierstead; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Barbara Ann Kierstead; husband, Teddy W. "Ted" Bennett; son, Jacob W. Bennett; brother, David Kierstead; and best friend, Kathy (Tom) Dixon.

At Rena's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. She and her husband's remains will be inurned at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
