Virdell Harold Hitchcock was born on September 17, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Marlene and Quardell Hitchcock. He received his early education at William T. Sherman Elementary School and later attended Tilden High School. At an early age, Virdell confessed a hope in Christ and later became a member of the Church of Christ on Scott Street in Forrest City, Arkansas. After school, Virdell pursued many passions and talents. He spent time as a model, a wrestler, and an artist. In later years, he relocated to Arkansas, where he made his home. Virdell enjoyed the simple joys of life-helping others, mowing grass, and taking on odd jobs whenever needed. He found fulfillment in lending a hand and being dependable for family, friends, and neighbors. Though not an outgoing person, he was admired for his steady presence, quiet strength, and willingness to help anyone in need. Over the years, he built meaningful friendships, especially with Coach Jim Bailey and Mr. Jack, with whom he shared a lasting bond. He also enjoyed music, dancing, and spending time with his children, whom he dearly loved. Among his many memories, he was especially proud of winning a steppers contest. Virdell was preceded in death by his parents, Marlene and Quardell Hitchcock; his sisters, Rena Hitchcock and JoAnna Hitchcock; his grandparents, Florida and John Allen; and nephews: Cordell and Wardell Hitchcock He leaves to cherish his memory twenty-two beloved children; a host of grandchildren; his siblings: Florine (the late Johnny) Jones of Forrest City, AR; Toni (Lorenzo) Christian of Phoenix, AZ; Dennis Hitchcock of Chicago, IL; Randolph Hitchcock of Chicago, IL; Valencia Hitchcock of Forrest City, AR; Monique (James "Zek") Jones of Chicago, IL; and Marlene Hitchcock of St. Paul, MN. He also leaves behind his best friends "Plug," Mr. Jack, and Coach Jim Bailey, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Virdell will be remembered as a hardworking, kind-hearted man whose life was filled with service, humility, and love. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
