Virgie Allen Osborne

VIRGIE ALLEN OSBORNE, 78 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. Born December 19, 1944 in Buchanan County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Riley and Mattie Francis Mullins Allen.
Virgie was a member of Mary Lou Old Regular Baptist Church since October 5, 1997, and retired from the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens as a CNA. She enjoyed going to church, cooking, taking care of her home, spending time working in her flower garden and sitting on her front porch looking at the flowers and watching the songbirds. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a rock of a human, a light, a gentle presence with a sharp wit and a beautifully infectious laugh. A loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years Leonard Osborne, October 5, 2018; her sisters, Edna Allen, Fannie Blankenship, Pinkie Beavers; and brother, Arville Allen.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Deel and husband Jeffrey of Prater, VA; son, Anthony Osborne of Grundy, VA; sisters, Sylvia Mullins and Hilda Kennedy both of Grundy, VA; brothers, Ira Allen of Grundy, VA, Oliver "Chuck" Allen of Grundy, VA.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Wayne Viars, Mickey Ryan Viars; step-grandchildren, April Amend, Shannon Deel; step-great granddaughters, Jeslyn Deel and Emma Amend; a special niece, Teresa Lester; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service for Virgie Allen Osborne was held at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Elders Gary Estep, George Baker, Jerry Overstreet, Stanley Stacy, James Stacy and Steve Baker officiating. Burial followed in the Noah Stuart Cemetery, Grundy, VA.
Active pallbearers were her family and friends.
The family received friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Grundy, VA, Monday, after 6:00 p.m. with evening service held at 7:00 p.m.
