Virgil Dante Bon, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Satellite Beach, Florida, on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Born in Ashland, Ohio, to Concettina Riela Bon and James Baptist Bon, Virgil grew up with a strong sense of duty, family, and community that shaped every part of his life.

He served his country for 24 years in the United States Army, including 11 years with the 82nd Airborne Division, before beginning another 24-year career at Harris Corporation. In 1975, he earned a master's degree in Contract Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, proving that his commitment to learning and excellence never wavered.

In 1964, he married his beloved Heidi Konstanze Bon, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2022. Together, they shared decades of partnership and joy, including many friendly doubles tennis matches that brought laughter and connection to their lives.

Virgil's life was defined by his generosity and his ability to put others first. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, supported, and uplifted whether through a joke to brighten a day, guidance in a difficult moment, or simply being there when someone needed him.

He is survived by his daughters Danielle Annette Krasky and Monika Ann Bon; his grandchildren Shannon Wheelerand Michael Krasky; his great-grandchildren Ivyanna Rosa, Giovanni Russell, and Anabella Montes; and his great-great-grandchildren Riella Kinsch and Luca Kinsch.

Virgil often reflected on the words of Chief Seattle, a quote that guided his view of life and connection to the world:

"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected."

In keeping with his wishes, Virgil will be cremated.

Those who knew him remember a man who lived with quiet integrity, laughter, and a profound care for others. His presence, generosity, and spirit will remain with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
