Johnnie Bowers, 94-year-old Lenapah resident, passed away at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on February 15, 1932, in Foraker, Oklahoma to Virgil and Martha (Workmon) Bowers.
He married Ann Young on November 15, 1952, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The couple owned and operated Bowers Oil Company from 1979 to 2019. He was a very hard worker and was very family oriented.
In his spare time, Johnnie raised cattle and enjoyed time at the local sale barn in South Coffeyville. He also enjoyed visiting the Lenapah Senior Citizen's Center as well. Overall, Johnnie spent most of his free time outdoors working on various projects.
He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Bowers of Tulsa, and Lisa Cook (Doug) of Lenapah; grandson, J.D. Cook (Ciara) of Lenapah; and great-granddaughter, Lacy Ann Cook, on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Young) Bowers; parents; and siblings, Lois Virginia Bowers, Elizabeth Noble, and Bill Bowers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Benjamin Funeral Service. Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah with Pastor Greg Highsmith officiating. J.D. Cook, Doug Cook, Blaine Bowers, Billy Bowers, Gary Coffey, and Kyle Ames will serve as casket bearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Johnnie’s memory to the Lenapah Fire Department, P.O. Box 130, Lenapah, Oklahoma 74042.
