Virgil Dean Klock was born on September 26, 1933 to Dick and Tillie (Weeldreyer) Klock. He was the 5th of 6 children joining Myrtle, Verlyn, Myron, Earl, and Lowell. He graduated from Chancellor High School in 1951 and started working on the farm.
On December 28, 1953, Virgil was united in marriage to Muriel Joy Uhe at the Chancellor Reformed Church. The couple made their home on the farm 3.5 miles north of Chancellor. In 2001, they moved to their home one mile west of Chancellor. Joy passed on November 30, 2023, ending a marriage union just weeks short of 70 years.
Virgil was an active and faithful member of Chancellor Reformed Church, where he served as a church elder for many years and enjoyed singing in church choirs. Virgil and Joy spent many hours watching their children and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. Christmas time was big in the Klock house, where both Joy and Virgil spent time decorating. He loved creating large outdoor Christmas light displays for all to enjoy. Virgil was active in the community by serving on the Union Gospel Mission Board, FSA Committee, and the Township Board for many years. Those who remember Virgil will remember the love he had for his family and farming.
