Virgil will be missed by his surviving family; wife, Donna Chamberlain Moore; brother, Vernon H. Moore; children, Paula Moore, Phyllis Bedgood (Jeff), Stephen Moore (Kristy), Marcus Moore (Allison), Max Moore (Amberlyn), and Angela SurVance (Benjamin); grandchildren, Brittany Calico, J. Virgil was born in Gilmer, Texas on October 28, 1936 to a farming family. He attended a one room school house in Mings Chapel. He earned an Associates Degree at Kilgore Jr. College, He served admirably in the Texas National Guard five and a half years as a Mechanic. He joined Texas Instruments, Richardson Texas in 1959, transferring to Sherman, Texas in 1983 where he retired at 40 years. Virgil enjoyed serving his community in Grayson County as Precinct 41 Chairman from 1983 to 2024, 40 years. He had a voice and an opinion and enjoyed sharing both.
In his retirement years, alongside his youngest son, Max Moore, they attended Grayson College from 1999-2002 and both became certified welders. They continued to work alongside one another on the Family farm, always welcoming another family member or friend who might consider to join in. He was back to his childhood roots. This farm was his happy place! He truly enjoyed sharing his home with others whether it was seasonal gatherings or holidays. These events included cookouts, fireworks, hay rides, and bonfires which countless friends have enjoyed. His home church was his heart beat. He loved his church family like his own. He was a child of God and always had word of encouragement. At the close of most any visit, countless family and friends might hear, " I Love you! I call your name every day in prayer. Read your Bible and do what it says,...and we'll all make it to the other side! "
Sweet words of wisdom from a country boy, that will live on in the lives of those close to him.
Yes!! We'll see you on the other side, good and faithful.
