It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Virgil Gene Rowe, born June 8, 1968, in Manistee, Michigan, to Junior and Jaunita Rowe. Virgil passed away on Monday, November 17, after a courageous battle with cancer. He faced his illness with quiet strength and deep resilience, holding tightly to the people and values that meant the most to him.
Virgil loved his family and his country with unwavering devotion. A skilled auto body painter and detailer, he took great pride in his work and approached every project with patience, craftsmanship, and care. Outside the shop, he found joy in firearms and spending time at the shooting range - a place where he could relax, focus, and feel completely himself.
Virgil was also known for speaking his mind without hesitation. He could be a self-proclaimed asshole when he needed to be - honest, blunt, and unapologetically himself - but those who knew him understood that beneath that toughness was a man with a huge heart. He would do anything for anyone, and his loyalty ran deep. He had an immense sense of humor and was known for making people laugh with his sharp wit, quick comebacks, and a personality that filled any room he walked into.
Although cancer took much from him, it also brought one profound gift: a second chance at love. During his final year, Virgil rekindled his relationship with Bonnie Briskey, the love of his life. Their bond was a source of comfort and strength, and Bonnie cared for him with extraordinary devotion throughout his treatment.
Virgil leaves behind Bonnie, his children Aubray Pugh (Dustin Pugh) of Smyrna Tennessee, Alec Rowe (Abbie Vida), Mike Henderson, and Jonathan Henderson (Kayla Henderson) of Ludington Michigan, as well as his grandchildren, Adrian Najar, Amaya Najar, Alijah Najar, Reyna Pugh of Smyrna Tennessee, Sage Louise Waller, Vera Rowe, Isla Marie Rowe (still baking), Tatum Mishler, Luna Mishler, Alexander Bechtold, Emma Henderson, Sophia Henderson, and Ellie Henderson all of Ludington Michigan. Siblings Toni Ensign (Roger Ensign), Anna Rowe, Robert Rowe (Sandy Rowe), Lisa Rowe Wilson (Ernest Wilson), Bonnie Rowe Bross, and Molly Edens (Scott Edens), as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
His presence - his humor, his honesty, his stubborn streak, and his unmistakable warmth - will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
May his memory be a blessing and his spirit rest in peace.
