Virginia Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Oct. 6, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts but trust in God's divine plan, that we announce the passing of Virginia June Bailey, lovingly known as Ginny. Ginny was one of five children of Frederick and Louise Greger of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. She married Donald R. Bailey in 1954, celebrating 35 years of marriage before Donald's passing in 1989. Together they raised a family of five children in Edwardsville, Illinois before moving to Texas in 1975. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she was called home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2024. Her life was a testament to her deep faith in God and an unwavering passion for life.
Born on November 16, 1929 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Ginny lived a life defined by her deep love for God and her unyielding commitment to her family. Ginny was a long-time member of Grace Bible Church of Houston. She found peace and comfort in her involvement in church activities and fellowship; always offering a smile and conversation that extended beyond church to her community. Whether through her warm smile, kind words, or thoughtful gestures, Ginny brought joy into the lives of those fortunate enough to know or meet her.
Her zeal for life was evident in everything she did and with boundless energy she embraced life. On moving to Houston, she drove a school bus for 11 years for the Klein School District, caring for and touching the hearts of many children. She played tennis, golf, and later taught water aerobics. Never one to slow down, for several summers she volunteered at the YMCA in Estes Park, Colorado, at children's hospitals as Jelly Bean the clown, at NAM Resale Store, and for Meals on Wheels. Ginny was also our favorite thespian! She performed in several plays with a senior acting group to benefit shut-ins and assisted living communities. Following this, she volunteered as an usher at The Hobby Center, Jones Hall, Alley Theater, Texas Repertory Theater, Stages, FACE, and A.D. Players Christian Theater. With a humble and joyful servant's heart, Ginny brought joy to those around her.
Ginny is survived by her son, Robert Bailey and fiancé Margit Bucher, and her son, Bruce Bailey, her daughter, Kathleen Cottrell, her daughter, Patti Weathersby and husband David, and her daughter, Linda Bailey. She also is survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. We thank the Lord for her life, and she will be dearly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Grace Bible Church of Houston (if wanting to help with Pastor David Dunn's medical expenses - please note in Memo).
