Virginia Lytch Batton

Mrs. Virginia (Ginny) Batton of Red Springs was born on February 9, 1942, in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the late James G. Lytch and Maude F. Lytch and departed this life on February 14, 2026, at Woodhaven Nursing Center, completing her journey of 84 years.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Howard Batton, and her sister, Gay Terry.

Left to cherish her memory two children: James Howard Batton (Louann) of Anderson, SC and Shannon Batton Baxley (Johnny) of Bladenboro; her sisters: Jane Hinson of Gibson and Kathy Murphy (Chip) of Laurinburg; six grandchildren: Wyndham Batton (Erin) of Belton, SC, Gaitley Roberts (Justin) of Lyman, SC, Graham Burns of Lumberton, Erin Baxley Washington (Joe) of Lumberton, Christa Baxley of Saint Pauls, and Sarah Baxley Efird (Daniel) of Saint Pauls; ten great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Virginia was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Red Springs and later worshiped at Covenant Love Church in Fayetteville.

Through her years she enjoyed crocheting afghans, cross-stitching and knitting prayer shawls. Capturing and documenting family memories through scrapbooking and compiling photograph albums was her passion.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given in Virginia's memory to Trinity United Methodist Church in Red Springs, NC.
