Virginia Cavanaugh Obituary

Virginia V. "Ginny" Cavanaugh

Virginia V. “Ginny” Cavanaugh, 92, passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Aurora, IL, and has been a Libertyville resident since 1969. She was a graduate of Aurora University and received her master’s degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She was a member and state Vice President of the American Association of University Women and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville.

Surviving are her husband, John H. Cavanaugh; and three children, John (Laura) Cavanaugh, Robert (Corinna) Cavanaugh and Cheryl (Mike) Turek; five grandchildren, Brandan, Celine, Bailey, Ian and Veronica; and two great-grandchildren, Waylen and Wyatt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hasmason; and her sisters, Aurelia, Mary and Helen.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 2:00 pm Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL.

Prayers will begin at the funeral Home at 10:00 am Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, and continue to St. Joseph Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville for funeral mass at 10:30 am. Interment will be on Tuesday, at St. Michael's Cemetery in Aurora, IL at noon.

Memorials can be made to Kidney Research in her memory.
