Virginia Pearl (Croteau) Chiaravalle, known as “ The Love Bug” to friends and her co-workers,passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 27th, 2023, with family by her side. Virginia was born June 16th,1934, the daughter of Leon Croteau Sr. and Lillian Culver Croteau. She was 88 years old.
She grew up in Riverton, Vt. and graduated Montpelier High School. She attended Fanny Allen School of Nursing and became an LPN in 1973. Virginia had worked the previous 8 years at the old Copley Manor Nursing Home. Virginia worked at the Dumont Nursing Home, the McKerley Nursing Home, and the Genesis Nursing Home for a total of 43 years in nursing.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Dr. Philip Chiaravalle, her son Peter Chiaravalle, one grandson Kyle Leddy, and one great grandson Jacob Bennet. She was also predeceased by her three of her sisters June, Kathleen, and Ann, and her two brothers, Richard and Leon Jr.
She is survived by her four children Philip Chiaravalle, Francis Chiaravalle, Sue Ellen Chiaravalle, and Paul Chiaravalle, and her sister Janice Halford. She also has 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ginny always had a smile and a funny personality. She was extremely dedicated to her work, her residents and her family. Ginny loved her flower beds and relaxing in the sunshine, sitting on the porch. She also loved open fields and trees.
A graveside service will be held on June 5th, 2023, at 11 am at St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Hyde Park Vt. A reception will be held at the Sterling View Community Center at the Sterling View Cooperative Trailer Park. Refreshments and a light lunch will be served.
