UTICA - Virginia J Coppola, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on August 31st with her family by her side.
She was born in Utica, NY to the late William and Sadie Janucik. It was on October 25, 1952 at Holy Trinity Church, did Virginia and Richard take their vows and shared nearly 57 years in a marvelous and blessed union filled with mutual love and devotion. During those years, she raised her children and then started a career with Bray Terminals for many years as Vice President. After retiring, they moved as snow birds to St Petersburg for 10+ years until Richard passed away.
Virginia enjoyed traveling to destinations, such as Hawaii and different cruises. She liked visiting her daughter's farm. Also shuffleboard, flea marketing and sitting on the beaches in Florida.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Stephen) Coffin, Richard (MaryAnn) Coppola, Tina Marie Coppola, and Ari (furbaby); grandchildren, Heather (Christopher) Johnston, Brian Coppola, Kevin (Maggi) Coppola, and Michelle Coppola; great grandchildren, Anna Norton, Trinity (Vance) Hanson, Peter Johnston, Ryan Johnston, Laurel Johnston, Sammy Rauscher, and Sophi Rauscher; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the staff that cared for her during the last 2 years, Melissa Land, Heather Neale, Josie Land, Jessica Beeler, and Keyshia Trice. She/We considered you family the way you gave her the care and love she deserved.
She is predeceased by her husband, Richard A Coppola; parents, Sadie and William Janucik; siblings, Joseph Janucik and Patricia Pikul.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Old Historical St. John's Catholic Church, Utica on Saturday (Sept 7th) at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.
