Virginia Marie Cramer, a cherished educator and beloved matriarch, passed peacefully at her home in Bowie, Maryland, on August 22, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on February 6, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York, Virginia's journey through life was as vibrant as her personality, captivating all those fortunate enough to know her.

Virginia's passion for education shaped her career as a dedicated third-grade teacher in New York City. She instilled a love of learning in countless students, sparking curiosity and creativity that would carry them through their lives. Her own academic foundation was laid at Barnard College in New York City where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and Hunter College in New York City, where she earned her Master's degree in Education, preparing her for a lifelong commitment to teaching and nurturing young minds.

In 1955, Virginia met her future husband, William Cramer, at the University of Colorado. Their love blossomed, leading to their marriage in Brooklyn in 1956. Together, they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter, eventually settling in Bowie, Maryland, in 1962. Virginia continued her love of teaching preschool for several decades at Sacred Heart School and the Christian Community Presbyterian Church, both in Bowie. Her gift as a teacher will foverever live on in her students.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, embracing her family with boundless affection. She is survived by her beloved husband, William B. Cramer, and their children; Steven, David, Alan, Gary, Mark and Linda; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Matthew, Jonathon, and Kara and her great-grandchild, Vincent and brother, Leo Demm.

Virginia’s interests extended beyond the classroom. She loved to cook, sharing her culinary delights with family and friends. Her green thumb brought her joy as she tended to her garden, nurturing blooms and beauty. A true crossword puzzle enthusiast, she found both challenge and delight in words and puzzles, showcasing her quick wit and intellect.

Virginia was blessed to have been able to extensively travel  not only the United States and Canada but the world, some of the places she was fortunate enough to visit were Europe, South America, Central America, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand.  She also enjoyed time spent on a cruise to Alaska and the Carribean.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen Demm, and her beloved brothers Paul and David Demm. Her legacy, however, lives on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in celebration of Virginia's life. Visitation will be held on September 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, Maryland.
