A Life Celebrated: Virginia Calvert Demerson
Virginia Calvert Demerson was born on November 18, 1933 in Lexington, Kentucky to Clyde and Rebecca Calvert. She passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, after a short illness.
The youngest of five children, Virginia grew up in the Lexington area, where she developed a lifelong love of learning and friendship. After marrying her beloved husband, Gordon, the couple lived in several states before eventually settling in Duncan, Oklahoma, where Virginia spent many fulfilling years teaching mathematics and enriching the lives of her students as well as her own children.
Virginia found great joy in spending time with her cherished friends from Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, P.E.O., Hestian Club, and her church. She was an avid traveler, an enthusiastic bridge player, and a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Duncan, where she and Gordon sang together in the choir. She lived out her faith on a daily basis.
She is survived by her children, Dusty Demerson, Nancye Demerson Lashley and her husband Rick, and David Demerson as well as her grandson, Chris Lashley.
Virginia will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her ability to make everyone feel like a friend. She truly never met a stranger.
A celebration of her life will take place at 1:30pm, Tuesday, November 11, at Church of the Servant, 14343 North MacArthur Blvd. in Oklahoma City.
