Virginia Lou Fite

Virginia Lou (Shewmaker) Fite, age 98, of Brookfield, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
She was born October 23, 1924, to George F. and Vernie (Isanhouer) Shewmaker. Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth Elwyn Fite on November 22, 1943, and they had four sons, Kenneth E., Jr., Eugene, Gary and John.
Virgina, along with her husband, Kenneth Sr., raised their four sons on a dairy farm in Helena, northeast of St. Joseph, Missouri. She also worked in the Rehab Department of the State Hospital in St. Joseph. When Virginia retired, she worked part-time cooking for the Boy's Home.
Virginia loved working in her flower garden, reading, quilting, and crocheting.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth, Jr. Fite and wife, Debra, Dr. Eugene Fite and wife, Belinda, and Gary Fite and wife, Joetta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Marjorie (Fite) Bleisch; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, Sr.; one son, John Robert Fite; her brother-in-law, Ray Bleisch; and her siblings, Dan, George, Jim, Margaret Hirter, Rachel Doyle, Bob Shewmaker, and their spouses.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
