Virginia "Ginny" (Waters) Hilton

Hilton, Virginia "Ginny" (nee Waters), of Northfield passed away on February 14, 2017. She was born in Atlantic City, N. J. and was an area resident for her whole life. Virginia loved her family and took great pride in planning for and entertaining her many friends, especially those in the "Lucy Group". Virginia graduated from Glassboro State College in 1966 with a Bachelors degree in Education followed by a Masters degree in Education. She began her 29 years in the Galloway Township School system in 1966 when she started teaching at the Oceanville School. She also taught 8th grade Language Arts at the Arthur Rann Middle School and later became the District Director of the Language Arts Program. She was a member since childhood of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Atlantic City where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Other memberships included Phi Delta Kappa (an honorary education fraternity) and Alpha Delta Kappa (an honorary education sorority). Ginny was an active volunteer and member of the Children's Seashore House (now Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and served in several roles in the Auxiliary including Secretary. She was also an active member of the Galloway Township Retirees group. She is survived by husband, Norman of 66 years; daughters Cathy (Bill), Nancy, Jessica (George), and son Brian (June). And by her grandchildren, who knew her as "Ginna"; Jeremy and Amanda Whitbred, and Julia, George, and Kathryn Swatek. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a brief service at Jeffries & Keates Funeral Home, 228 Infield Avenue, Northfield, NJ (609-641-4650). Burial will follow immediately after the service at the Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery.
