Virginia Darlene Hamm, 86, went home to be with her Lord and
Savior on February 14, 2026. After a life so faithfully lived, her earthly
journey ended peacefully as she stepped into eternal healing and
perfect peace.
Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Victory Family
Church in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will
receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in
Decatur.
Born on February 11, 1940, Darlene lived a life rooted in unwavering
faith, fierce love, and steadfast devotion to her family. She was a proud
and devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a treasured great-
grandmother. Her daughters were her heart, and her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved each of them
deeply and prayed over them daily, covering her family in constant
prayer.
Darlene loved the Lord with all her heart. She was known as a true
prayer warrior—faithful, bold, and unshakable in her trust in God.
When she prayed, she believed. Her faith carried her through life’s
trials and was a guiding light to everyone blessed to know her. She did
not just speak about faith—she lived it.
She found joy in the simple things: people watching with a smile,
hunting for treasures at garage sales, and cruising the aisles at
Walmart just to see what she might find. She had a feisty spirit, a
loving heart, and a presence that made others feel seen and cared for.
Darlene’s legacy is one of faith, family, and fierce love. Though she will
be deeply missed here, her family finds comfort in knowing she is
completely healed, whole, and rejoicing in Heaven. Her prayers, her
laughter, and her love will echo through generations.
She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and
carry her love forward.
