Virginia Mae Hamrick, a beloved soul cherished by many, peacefully passed away at Wendover Hospice House Saturday, March 2, 2024. Born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, on March 31, 1931, Virginia's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and grace.
  
 In the wake of her departure, Virginia leaves behind a legacy that will forever echo through the lives of those who knew her. Her family mourns her loss while celebrating the profound impact she had on their lives. Virginia's late first husband, AG Whisnant, and her late husband James Hamrick were pillars of strength in her life. She also shared deep bonds with her brother Ed Smith and sisters Mildred Blackwell, Lorene Self, and Margie Hayes who have also preceded her in death.
  
 Among those who will continue to honor Virginia's memory are her son Harvey Whisnant and wife Lynda of Boiling Springs, NC; her daughter Kathy Campfield of Shelby; her granddaughter Tiffany Odom and husband Terry of Simpsonville, SC; her granddaughter Kristi Sorrells and wife Christie of Greensboro, NC; her grandson Gabe Whisnant and wife Heather of Spartanburg, SC; her grandson Kyle Wright and wife Amy of Shelby as well as her seven great-grandchildren.
  
 Virginia's life will be commemorated at Sharon Church in Shelby officiated by Rev. Rusty Stroup. A visitation will take place on March 7th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The final act of laying Virginia to rest will occur during the burial ceremony in the church cemetery immediately following the service.

To honor the memory of Virginia, pallbearers who will serve are as follows: Paul Mowery, Bobby Pyron, Steve Vess, Ronnie Blackwell, Terry Odom, and Doyle McSwain.

The family has requested memorials be made to Sharon Church, 871 College Ave. Shelby, NC 28152
