On Saturday, May 27, 2023, Virginia Patricia Ingram, loving wife, mother, and nana, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 82.
Pat was born in Chilhowie, Virginia on January 18, 1941, to the late Hurley & Orpha O'Dey. She was a graduate of Chilhowie High School in 1959 where she spent her senior year staying with her grandmother.
Left to carry on her legacy is her husband, Earl Ingram, and two children, Wendy (Michael) Barnett, and Harry Culpepper III. She was a proud Nana to 11 grandchildren: Jeff (Becky) Sanders, Amber (Shawn) Woyer, Amanda (Casey) Staylor, Brittney (Phillip) Ostrander, Harry (Abigail) Culpepper IV, Brittany Jeys, Michael Jeys, Ryan Jeys, Alex Barnett, Michael Culpepper, and Cassidy Denoto who she loved and spoiled their entire life. She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Robbie, Anthony, Jeremiah, Brayden, Tyler, Tayler, Josh, Tristen, Baylee, Somer, Parker, Cash and Presley. In addition, she had a close and loving relationship with her brother Donald O'Dey, her sisters Merle Baker and Freda Thomas, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Pat loved the Lord and was strong in her faith. She always stood out in a crowd with her love of clothes and shoes. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter and son. Her home was always opened to the many kids that ran through it with a table full of food, and always treated them as one of her own. In Nana's eyes, you could do no wrong. Every grandchild could tell you about her tall bed and climbing up in it to hear her stories, she was the best storyteller and could hold the attention of everyone in the room. She never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She had a way to make you always feel important. In her recent years, anytime she had to stay in the hospital, all the nurses called her "Saint Nana." She never complained and took everything life gave her with grace. You never saw her without her best friend and sister, Freda. She was the most devoted wife. Her favorite place was the mountains, and she will be laid to rest surrounded by family who preceded her.
Pat will be forever remembered for her gentle voice, caring heart, welcoming spirit, selfless giving, and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
A graveside service will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chilhowie, VA on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
