Virginia “Tootie” Jackson was born on October 23, 1949, in Sylva North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She was a dedicated 25- year employee of Contel until her retirement in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her father Andrew Hampton; mother Thelma Hampton Bennett; brothers, Johnny Hampson and Jimmy Hampton.

Tootie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 57 years John Carroll Jackson; daughters, Regina Jackson of Maggie Valley, North Carolina and Toni Hannah (Marc) of Roswell, Georgia; 4 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild; and a host of family and friends.

A dedicated wife and mother, loving grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and daughter. Tootie shared her love through acts of service, always putting her family’s needs first. Her strength and resilience are carried on through her daughters and grandchildren. Wonderful memories of special times spent with her gives us joy, comfort and inspiration. Even though she’s gone, her spirit will forever live on in those she touched, and her legacy will always be a part of us.

A celebration of life service will be held for Tootie at 2:00pm on Monday, October 6th, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church in Sylva. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva.
