Virginia Phyllis Jarett

Virginia Phyllis Jarett, 82 of North Adams died October 12, 2023 at North Adams Commons. She was born in North Adams on October 21, 1937 a daughter of George Wright and Maude (Whittaker) Cole. Her foster mother Florence Jarett who raised her died in July of 1959. Virginia attended schools in North Adams until the third grade she the moved to Cotton Plant, Arkansas where she attended schools and graduated from Mary Anderson High School.
Virginia moved back to North Adams in 1968 where she was employed at the James Hunter Machine Company, Sprague Electric Company, Goodwill Store all in North Adams. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001 from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and was last employed as a special needs teacher at the Conte Middle School in North Adams.
She was a devoted and loyal member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams where she was in the choir and taught Sunday school. Virginia was an accomplished artist and painter.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews including Kimberly Oakes.
A Memorial service will be celebrated on Monday October 23, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. To add to the Book of Memories, please visit flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.
