Virginia "Ginny" L. Jelken of Fowlerville went on to her eternal rest on Wednesday, July 23rd at the age of 89. Ginny was born July 31, 1935 to James and Elizabeth Sweet in Bell, California. She graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1953, and two years later met her husband, Edgar (Jake) who was in the United States Marine Corps. The two wed on December,24, 1955 and moved to Nebraska where their twin boys, John and James were born in August 1956. Ginny spent many years on the farm being a meticulous housekeeper and talented seamstress. They moved to Fowlerville in 1969 where she worked as a medical secretary with Dr. Hauer and Dr. Higby for many years and retired from McPherson Hospital in 1989. Ginny had a love for Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies) and keeping busy with camping, traveling and spending time at their Townline Lake house in Harrison, Michigan. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fowlerville. Ginny was a proud grandmother and great grandmother who loved visits from the kids. Ginny is survived by her children John (Carol) Jelken and James (Rose) Jelken of Fowlerville, 7 Grandchildren Christina Jelken Gray (Chuck Dittenber), Suzy (Doug) Barrett, Ryan (Victoria Danh) Jelken, Curt (Courtney) Jelken, Jamie Cischke (Ronnie Moawad), Michael Jelken, Corinne (Nick) Zachos, and 10 Great Grandchildren Eva, Cameron, Brendon, Zachary, Izabelle, Evelyn, Zoey, Ronnie Jr,Ilianna and Dominick. She is preceded in death by her husband,Jake, parents, James and Elizabeth, and sister, Dorothy. In place of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Livingston County Animal Shelter in her honor. Memorial Service: Friday, August 15th at 11 am St. John Lutheran Church 132 S. Benjamin St, Fowlerville Luncheon immediately following
