Virginia Large Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory - Vero Beach on Jan. 6, 2026.
Virginia Alexander Large, age 66, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly on November 12, 2025.

Born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Virginia was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1977 and earned her degree in accounting from Hillsdale College.

Virginia began her career with EDS Corporation in Troy, Michigan, and later worked for PaineWebber, where she earned her Series 7 license. She went on to earn her CNA license and studied to become an LPN. Most recently, she devoted her talents and energy to the Women's Refuge Thrift Shop in Vero Beach, FL and Light Group Ministries.

A gifted singer, Virginia shared her love of music throughout her life. She was an active member of Grosse Pointe Theatre for many years and sang joyfully in her church choir.

Virginia was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Alfred and America Large, and her brother, Al Large. She is survived by her brother, Dr. James Large (Nancy), her sisters, Cissie Cappola, Vicky Storey, and Mary Short (George) and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Her family says Virginia "didn't have a mean bone in her body." She will always be remembered as the baby of the family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2365 Pine Avenue, Vero Beach, FL on January 14, 2026 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Riverwind Clubhouse, 1305 River Reach Dr., Vero Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women's Refuge of Vero Beach, 1850 Lemon Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
