LaMyrle Shaffer

LaMyrle Shaffer passed Sunday, February 22, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 5, 1938 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Walter and DioLinda Freitas Camara. She married Robert Eugene Shaffer Jr. on April 3, 1955 in Oakland, California, they were later sealed for time and all eternity.

LaMyrle attended American River College, Cosumnes River College and Hillsdale College. She worked as a nurse's aide at Folsom Convalescent Center and as an administrator for child development in California where she retired. During much of this time, she was a freelance genealogist.

LaMyrle was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many callings, including young women's leader, Sunday school and primary worker, helping with many camps with the youth, and family history consultant. She also served a mission at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where she again shared her talent of genealogical research.

LaMyrle loved gardening and reading. She served in 4-H, Boy Scouts, and the Girls Scouts. She often participated in pioneer reenactments and 24th of July celebrations. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by her children Boe (Toni) Shaffer, Tony (Debbie) Shaffer, and Michael Shaffer; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings and son, David Shaffer.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:30 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., with a viewing beforehand from 11:30 am to 1 pm. She will be laid to rest in the West Haven Cemetery, 1550 2350 West, West Haven, Utah. A funeral reception will be held immediately following the interment in the ward building, 2565 West 3300 North, Farr West, Utah.
