Virginia L. “Ginny” Larson, 88, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 16, 2023, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt.
She was born June 21, 1935 in Lu Verne, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm and Mary Annabelle (Bordwell) Knopf. She was raised and educated in the Lu Verne Schools. On August 25, 1951, Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Larson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home on the family farm near Badger. They moved to Humboldt in 1979. Ginny loved gardening and canning, sewing and crocheting, crafting, card making and sending cards to the soldiers. She was a second mother to many young people growing up. She enjoyed making homemade noodles, was known for her Norwegian Christmas cookies, but most of all caring for her family and friends. Ginny was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, had an extensive prayer list and was a good and faithful servant to the Lord.
Survivors include her children: Ron Larson of Fredericksburg, Rick (Rod Mullenburg) Larson of Fredericksburg, Deb (Larry) Loss of Humboldt, Jeff Larson of Humboldt, Valerie (David) Hughes of Marion, Scott Larson of Humboldt and Jennifer (Greg) Tille of Humboldt; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren, her sisters, Roberta Gronbach of Lu Verne and Ne Ann (Gary) Jones of El Dorado, Kansas and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth and sisters Wanda Hintz and Esther Marnin.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23rd, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22nd at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service, Humboldt. Burial will be in Our Saviour’s Cemetery, Corinth Township. www.masonlindhart.com
