Virginia Mae "Ginger" Marshall, a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away on January 28, 2026, in La Grange, Texas, at the age of 86.
Born on October 27, 1939, in
Del Rio, Texas, Ginger's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to her family and friends.
Ginger graduated from Pasadena High School, Class of 1957. Her career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, beginning at Arco Chemical Company where she dedicated 19 years of service. She then channeled her people skills into real estate, working as a Realtor with ERA Fairel in Crosby, Texas, and TSR Country Properties in Fayetteville, Texas. Ginger's resilience and adaptability shone brightly during her 20 years as a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster with Pilot Catastrophe in Mobile, Alabama.
A devout Christian, Ginger lived her faith through acts of kindness and a perpetual willingness to help others. Her professional endeavors were matched by her passion for life and the joys it offered. She was an avid seamstress, finding solace and joy in the company of her friends with every stitch. Traveling was another of Ginger's pleasures, and she seized every opportunity to explore new places.
Family was the cornerstone of Ginger's life. She cherished spending time with her beloved husband, Jerry Marshall, and the light of her life shone brightest when she was with her son Scott Marshall, his wife, Lori, and her adored grandchildren, Casey and Avery Marshall, all of Fayetteville. Ginger's love for plants was more than a hobby; it blossomed into Marshall's Nursery, a business she proudly owned in Crosby, Texas.
Ginger's memory will be treasured by her sister, EJ Billings of Langtry, Texas; her nephew, Eddie Langston and his wife, Shembra of Flatonia; her niece, Renee Owen of Houston; her nephew, Neal Billings and his wife, Angie of Langtry, Texas; and her niece, Jenifer Thompson of
Del Rio, Texas. Her vibrant legacy will live on through her family and all those she touched.
Predeceased by her father, Edward Wurz, her mother, Mae Wurz, and her sister, Demona Hyde, Ginger leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Virginia Mae "Ginger" Marshall was a funny, thoughtful, witty and kind soul whose generosity knew no bounds. Her laughter was contagious, her advice was cherished, and her presence was a gift to all who knew her. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with grace. Ginger's story does not end here; it continues in the hearts of those she loved and the countless lives she enriched.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Fayetteville Brethren Church of Fayetteville. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fayetteville Brethren Church Cemetery or to Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.
