Virginia "Ginny" Lee McCarty, 79, passed away on August 26, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters in Orange Park, Florida. She was born on May 25, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Robert Leo Sell and Helen Elizabeth Sell.

In 1967, Virginia received her nursing degree from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. A dedicated nurse, she had an accomplished career spanning fifty years. Although she loved being a nurse, her greatest love was her family. She met the love of her life, Tom, on a blind date. Together, they moved many times with the Navy, traveling the United States with their four daughters and eventually settling down in Orange Park. To survive the Florida heat, Ginny needed a pool, which became the center of many family events and grandchildren fun. Ginny's love language was food as she made wedding cakes, strawberry freezer jam and endless batches of cookies.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Allen McCarty; sister, Margaret Rose Sell and sister-in-law, Peggy Ann Sell.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Coreen "Carrie" McCarty-Gibson, Maureen "Reenie" Larson, Kathleen "Katie" McCarty, and Eileen Branham; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, John Sell and Robert Sell; sisters, Tina Sell (Jim Hillard) and Mary Ann Schwane (George); and a host of other family members and friends. While Virginia will be greatly missed, she will never be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
