Virginia Elizabeth McGetrick

Virginia Elizabeth McGetrick passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010, from cancer.

She was born on August 23, 1946, in Plainfield, New Jersey to the late Russell Norman Britton and late Jacquelyn Houston Britton.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Martin J. McGetrick; her daughter, Nancy E. Brizendine and her husband, Carroll, of Montpelier; her son, Bradley Houston McGetrick and his wife, Mary Katherine, of Richmond; and the lights of her life, three grandchildren, Patrick Leland Brizendine, Thomas Houston and Caroline Marie McGetrick.

She was predeceased by her littlest angel, Mary Evelyn McGetrick.

She is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine S. Britton and Patricia M. Britton Loeser; and five terrific nephews.

Since moving to Madison County full time in 1974, she and her family have been blessed by so many wonderful friends and neighbors who have enriched their lives, and certainly have been so supportive of the family while going through Ginny's journey. Ginny could not have done without the amazing support of Marty, Nancy and Brad, who have been the focus of her life.

Ginny asks that in lieu of flowers that you give to the charity of your choice to help others in need in Madison County.

Visitation will be at Preddy's Funeral Home in Madison from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010, at Madison Presbyterian Church with burial following at Criglersville Shiloh Cemetery.

Dear McGetrick family,
It has been an unfortunately long time since we have been in touch and to reconnect about such a sad news is so unbearable. Please accept our deepest condolences from our hearts that will always remember Ginny, Her warmth and Her bright smiling face of a true Friend!
Our Lydia also passed away, but three long years ago and we can quite understand and share the grief and sorrow you all must feel - life, as beautiful as it is, can be sometimes so cruel. Why such a nice human beings needed to go before their time...

We are so sorry to hear of Ginny's passing, but she is celebrating with her Lord. I still fondly remember the Easter I spent with Marty and Ginny when I was working with a Technical school in Fredricksberg for Control Data. You brought me in to your home and welcomed me as family. I remember how gracious you all were, particularily Ginny. Marty, may God bless you and your family during your time of grief.

Marty,

I only knew your lovely wife, Ginny, only through our work related to the Madison Free Clinic. But she immediately impressed me with her dedication to others. She was key leader in the Madsion Free Clinc and she had a passion for people in need.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I know you all have wonderful memories of a caring, deeply spiiritual, wife and Mother who graced your lives.

I am so thankful to have known Ginny. May God bless you all.
