Virginia Ruth Richison, 96, of Johnston City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:03 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.
Virginia was born in 1927 to Otto and Anna Virginia (Brown) Chasteen. She was united in marriage to Virgil B. Richison in 1949. They shared 21 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1970.
Virginia was retired having worked for many years at National Transformers. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnston City. Virginia had a servant's heart and enjoyed volunteering at JC Manna Mission. She was an avid sewer, enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Katherine (John) Smith III of Denton, TX, Kenneth (Rachel) Richison of Macon, MO, and Debra Richison of Johnston City; six grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sister, Edna Savant. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Burton (Ruth) Chasteen and Robert (Nadine) Chasteen; brother-in-law, Robert "Ribs" Savant.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to JC Manna Mission, 306 E Broadway Blvd., Johnston City, Illinois, 62951.
