Virginia "Ginny" A. Shell, 76, of Martinton passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born on May 26, 1949 in Kankakee, the daughter of Robert and Martha (Aryes) Wilhoyt. She married David W. Shell on December 23, 1967 in Kankakee and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.
She is survived by three daughters, Becky Shell of Martinton, Chris (Keith) Trumble of Martinton and Sarah Jenkins of Oregon, IL; one son, Duane Shell of Martinton; one brother, Stuart (Sandy) Wilhoyt of Bourbonnais; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Ginny was an accountant for Volkmann Jewelry in Kankakee. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She also loved being outdoors, her dogs (Izzy and Bella) and spending time with her grandkids. Ginny also loved volunteering for several community organizations and traveling.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
