Virginia “Ginger” Stanley, 88, of Westfield passed away June 15, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born December 24, 1934, in Springfield, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Col. Edward Campbell and Virginia (Butterfield) Franklin. She spent her early childhood years primarily along the east coast before her family settled in New Castle, Indiana. In her sophomore year of high school she met her forever sweetheart, Joseph H. Stanley, whom she married January 20, 1955.
Mr. Stanley’s basketball coaching and teaching career moved the family thru out Indiana, but Ginger could always be found on the bleachers cheering on the team. She spent most of her career helping grade school aged children as a teachers aide, which she loved! She enjoyed painting, playing piano, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Ginger was a woman of strong Christian faith and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, nana and aunt. Her family was truly her greatest enjoyment and accomplishment.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Joe Stanley; two children, Ginny Jackson and Joe (Lori) Stanley Jr.; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Brett) Bubalo, Emily (Kurt) Denney, Erika (Patrick) Maschino, and Kyle Stanley; and six great grandchildren, Cole, Mackenzie, Kaitlyn, Palmer, Jack, and Emmy. She was preceded in passing by three brothers, Edward Franklin, Richard Franklin, and Dr. Robert Franklin.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor Joe and Ginger will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan - Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. A reception will immediately follow the services until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
