Virginia (Johnson) Steadman passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 29, 2025 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Boston, Virginia was the daughter of the late Helen(Sullivan) and Alfred Johnson. Dear sister to the late Alfred"Buddy" Johnson and his wife Jenny. Virginia married the love of her life the late Malcolm Steadman in 1956. She is survived by her children James "Jay", Debra "Debbie" (Turner) and her late husband Dave, Malcolm and his wife Janean, Cheryl and her partner John. Proceeded in death by her son Timothy "Timmy". She was the proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Virginia loved her family more than anything, She loved all animals and would be the first to take in any strays. She was a hard worker. Working over 20 years as a cashier at Stop and shop, until finally retiring in 2023. Virginia leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves behind her traveling buddy E.J.
Relatives and friends Are kindly invited to attend Visiting hours at The Casper FuneralHome, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston Tuesday September 9 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m.
Virginia will be missed beyond measure but the legacy she leaves behind will carry on through her family. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her name to ASPCA. 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804. For donations by mail, use the ASPCA Gift Processing Center at P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
