Virginia E. Kidwell-Swingler, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Born on April 3, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of the late Effie Ireine Mister and George O. Chaney.

Virginia was one of six children and was deeply devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her siblings Morris A. Chaney, George “Buck” Chaney (Jean), and Ellen Mae Chaney. She is survived by her brothers Venton L. Chaney, Sr. (Becky) of Owings, MD, and James K. Chaney (Donna) of Owings, MD. To her brothers and sister, she was affectionately known simply as “Sis,” and her nieces and nephews lovingly knew her as “Aunt Ginny.”

She was twice blessed in marriage. On May 28, 1950, she wed Richard M. “Dick” Kidwell, Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure until his passing. Later, she married Ronald E. Swingler, Sr., who also preceded her in death.

Virginia’s first job as a waitress at Chaney’s Restaurant was where she met Dick, the love of her life. Together they operated their family-owned produce stand, and later a propane tank business, along Route 260 where she met many dear friends. They also enjoyed dancing, bowling, camping in Thurmont, MD, and annual trips to Disney World. After retirement, the couple treasured their time at their condo near St. Pete Beach, where Virginia delighted in collecting seashells and attending the dog races. Later in life, she treasured time spent with her cousin Mildred “Millie” Thompson, sharing shopping trips, outings to Dover, and visits to the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Virginia is survived by her children, Debra K. Disharoon of Fredericksburg, VA, and Richard M. Kidwell, Jr. (Kim) of St. Inigoes, MD; her cherished grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Disharoon, and Ryan Kidwell; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Virginia will remember her as warm, friendly, and deeply devoted to her family and friends. She touched many lives, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
