Virginia Dare Brown Tew, 88, of 96 Lorraine Road, Clinton, passed away on Thursday Jan. 1, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at Clinton Cemetery with the Rev. Chubby Reiber officiating.
Born in 1937 in Onslow County, Virginia. she was the daughter of the late Nathan Buris Brown and Sarah Catherine Brown, and the widow of Brady Lee Tew.
Virginia is survived by her three daughters: Kathy T. Robinson (Ronie) of Clinton, Claudia T. Lewis of Wilmington, and India T. Wirtz (Shannon) of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons: Dennis Tew of Clinton and Daniel Tew of Wilmington; two sisters: Sadie Brown of Wilmington and Minnie Piner of Rose Hill; two brothers: Alvis Brown of Wilmington and Victor Brown of Warsaw; eight grandchildren: James Faircloth, Jr., Jason Faircloth, Austin Lewis, Alexis Lewis, Mason Carter, Haley Carter, Zachary Tew and Saxon Wirtz; and 10 great-grandchildren: Megan Faircloth, Cole Faircloth, Kelsey Robinson, Carson Barnes, Lyla Atkins, Brokelyn Tew Klinger, Jahmari Foy-Carter, Jahkobe Foy-Carter, Jahsiah Carter, Freya Jade Carter-Calixto, Trevor Shivers, Lucas Bass, Bailey Wolfe and Tyson Klinger.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her seven sisters: Mavis Henderson, Annie Anderson, Nettie Tucker, Margaret Casteen, Gaynelle Edwards, Geraldine Hatcher, Rosetta Howard, Joyce Faye Brown and Lousetta Brown; and three brothers: Garland Brown, Zinnie Brown and Venice Lee Brown.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery, and other times at the home of her daughter, Kathy Robinson, 2310 Brown Church Rd., Clinton.
