Virginia Isabelle Vallez, a woman of intelligence, faith, and optimism, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023, in Lathrup Village, Michigan at the age of 100. Born on October 22, 1923, in Kawkawlin, Michigan, she lived a life filled with love, service, and an unwavering positive attitude.
Virginia was the beloved mother of Jeanne Barron and Michelle Oxley, and the cherished grandmother of Mollie (James) Mackinnon, Charles (Lulu) Barron, and Grace Barron (Friend-Patrick Galvin). She was also the proud great-grandmother of Lucas and Audrey Mackinnon. Virginia was the dear sister of Annabelle Naugle and Robert O'Neil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Henry Vallez, in 1994, her son-in-law, Charles Barron, on June 22, 2023, her parents, Jeanette and John O'Neil, and nine siblings; John, Charles, Al, David, Patrick O'Neil, Marry Conway, Margaret Kolanek, Maude Yonke and Sally Mauritz.
Virginia's professional life was marked by her dedication and commitment. She served as a bookkeeping manager at Ethyl Corporation Credit Union until her retirement in the late 1980s. Her work ethic and attention to detail were admired by her colleagues and set a high standard in her field. Beyond her professional life, Virginia was deeply involved in humanitarian works. She managed Mother and Unborn Baby Care and served as the regional manager of the area Torch Drive campaign. Her contributions to these organizations were invaluable, and she touched countless lives through her service.
Outside of her professional and philanthropic endeavors, Virginia was an avid reader and a fantastic cook. She had a keen interest in current events and was always up-to-date with the news. Her family will fondly remember her strong and very positive attitude, which she maintained even in the face of adversity. Her resilience and optimism were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Virginia's life was a testament to her intelligence and faith-filled spirit. She was a beacon of optimism, always seeing the best in people and situations. Her unwavering faith was a source of strength for her and those around her. She was a woman of great character, whose legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial visitation will be at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 Twelve Mile Rd., Berkley, MI on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be Saturday November 18, 2023 at 9:30 AM until the 10:00 AM Memorial Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Road, Southfield, MI. Private cremation has taken place and private inurnment will be at Holy Sepluchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
