Kenneth James Kniesteadt, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 5, 2025, at his home in Berkley, MI. Born on August 13, 1945, in Mt. Clemens, MI, Kenneth's life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Kenneth's early years in Michigan laid the foundation for a life of service and commitment. After graduating from high school, he honorably served four years in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. His bravery and conduct were recognized with several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation.
Upon returning from service, Kenneth found love and companionship with Kathleen, and they were united in marriage on October 19, 1968. Together, they built a life filled with joy and raised a loving family. Their children, Kellie (Jeffrey) Ross, Kenneth (Michelle) Kniesteadt, Jr., and Kimberly (Scott Parrinello) Kniesteadt, were Kenneth's pride and joy, along with his seven grandchildren, Darryl Davis, Melanie Ross, Abbie Ross, Joshua Parrinello, Aiden Parrinello, Collin Parrinello, and Daniel Kniesteadt.
Kenneth's siblings, Donald (Beatrice) Kniesteadt and Carol Sizemore, will fondly remember their brother's strength and kindness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie Marie and Roy Alvin Kniesteadt; and a brother in-law, James Sizemore.
Professionally, Kenneth dedicated 28 years as a truck driver in the Food Services Industry and later as a Shuttle Driver for Suburban Toyota of Novi. His work ethic and reliability made him a respected figure among his colleagues and within the industry.
Outside of work, Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycles, snowmobiling, billiards, and bowling. His adventurous spirit was infectious, and he often shared these passions with his family and friends, creating lasting memories.
Kenneth was also an active member of the Royal Oak VFW Post 1669, where he found camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose with fellow veterans. His involvement with the VFW was a testament to his lifelong commitment to service and community.
Kenneth James Kniesteadt, Sr.'s legacy is one of honor, love, and joy. He lived a life that exemplified the values he held dear, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
The family has suggested memorials to the VFW National Home in memory of Kenneth.
