Virginia Ruth Wickizer
At the remarkable age of 99, Virginia Ruth Wickizer beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother & friend to many, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2025.
Born January 22, 1926 in Apache, Ok. The only Daughter of Ernest William Harris & Mabel Ross Marr. She is survived by brother, Robert Ernest Harris, age 105 yrs, who currently lives in Oklahoma.
Virginia graduated from Apache High in 1943, briefly attended Oklahoma City University & then worked at Lee Way Transport in Oklahoma City. She married the love of her life James Reynolds Wickizer on June 17, 1949.
A year later they welcomed their first children, Twins Jamey Ruth & James Robert in 1950. In 1952 Stephen Wesley joined the team & in 1954 Susan Kay was a beautiful addition to this growing family. Just when everyone thought they were done, in 1962 came Jennifer Lynn & to finish things off another set of Twins popped out in 1966, Michelle Howe & Michael Harris.
Virginia & her husband Jim resided in Oklahoma, Tennessee, Illinois & finally retired to Trenton, GA. They enjoyed many years of traveling the USA, gambling at various Casinos, dancing to Bob Wills, the King of Western Swing & good cup of hot coffee. She was a known Queen of Bingo, an original American Picker, Oil & Gas Proprietor, a Red Hatter, World Class Hugger, & could whip up the best macaroni & cheese, biscuits & gravy & of course her cornbread was a family favorite.
Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love & cherished memories. This original Sooner & Dust bowl survivor is survived by six of her children, 16 grandchildren, & 16 great grandchildren, with another due in October.
Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery in Edmond, OK. Memorial services will be held June 12, 3 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga, GA.
Mother, "We love you a bushel & a peck, & a hug around the neck."
