BALLSTON LAKE - Vito Anthony Serio, age 78, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the loving presence of his family on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1947, in Utica, N.Y., and was the son of the late Vito Nicholas and Amelia P. (Forgione) Serio.
Vito earned his Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam. He dedicated over 30 years of his career as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager with General Electric, serving primarily in Schenectady, New York and also in Duluth, Georgia. He was respected for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to his work.
Vito had a deep love for travel, especially visiting his family home in Alberobello, Italy, and his unforgettable journey to Egypt, which held some of his fondest memories. He cherished time spent in the kitchen, both every day and on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, where cooking became a way to bring family together and create lasting memories.
He also found great joy outdoors. Whether kayaking on peaceful waters or enjoying a round of golf, Vito embraced the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life.
He was the beloved husband of Angel (Cuomo) Serio, who called him her "renaissance man"; loving father of Mark Serio and Angel (Patrick) Cronin; dear grandfather of Charlie Cronin; brother of Elizabeth DiCamillo, Dolores (James) Landers, and Nicholas (Ginny) Serio. He will be missed by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and neighbors. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Donald Reisinger.
Services will be private and a Celebration of Life will be announced in the Spring.
He will rest in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, N.Y.
